This activity takes place all year round and is one of the best things to do in Los Cristianos. Usually after 25 minutes of paddling you are often surrounded by pods of up to 30 dolphins. As the kayaks do not make any noise they do not frighten or disturb the dolphins and often we are rewarded with dolphins jumping high into the air or swimming directly underneath your kayak. Then it's into the water to look for turtles and bull rays. Usually within a few minutes curious turtles arrive and get very close, swimming around and in between us. Also the bull rays regularly glide elegantly along the sea bed underneath us.
The coast of Tenerife is the home to up to 5 different species of dolphins with the bottle nose dolphin being the easiest to spot, often just off the coast. Their average length is 2.7 metres for males and 2.5 metres for females, with the oldest individuals measuring over 3 metres (10 feet) and they live in groups between 10 and 30 members.
Dolphins and turtles are wild animals but there is a 95% chance that you will see them.
